2015 after my Wassce in May, I came home a week after writing my last paper and was thinking of my next move as I await my results to come in September. A lot of things were on my mind including getting myself some job though my skills then were not enough to get me any descent job with a cool pay. My inner passion for music keeps growing day by day so at the end I told myself I was gonna continue what I was doing back in high school ( Rapping & Singing ) that got me some very good Following in other schools that I was Performing at their entertainment nights and Funfares. I thought through it and started visiting the studio to record something and put it out for the public to test the waters. I started going to Djscorty Blakk studio then in Mafi Kumase.
On my first visit I met other Rappers in his studio and by the time I left the studio, I recorded a verse for Random Faya and the second day i did ‘Rap Abuse’ and put AmuGa Temper on it. The following week after some bad man gathering, Darlington Seddy-Kofi Ahorney and I discussed the song and he posted it on his Facebook wall. We were very excited about the comments so I went back to him and said “Yo bro, your facebook post got some positive feedback, I think you have to be consistent with this thing”. At the time he was preparing himself to go to Journalism school to acquire some more skills so to prepare himself for the future as his passion for Journalism keeps growing. We both put our heads together and we started working together as artist and artist manager.
We had zero budget and little knowledge about music business and brand positioning so we contacted very few industry players in 2015/2016 including Jonilar , Adeleke aka DJ Stephen Gh and Bright Ellis of Global Fm Ho. They all responded positively to give us their support anytime we call on them. They’ve all asked us to send us any of my records which we did and in December 2015 Bright Ellis gave me a 30 minutes interview on Kuul103.5fm FM, Ho. Dj Stephen invited me to Akatsi and said they’re working on a rap battle to be aired every Saturday on Shine 96.9FM and had asked me to pick a form and join the battle if for nothing at all to keep me active and also to improve on my writting skills. I took that opportunity and run with it. The battle lasted for 5 months and this gave me a solid foundation with a good fanbase in Akatsi, Abor, Dzodze, Tadzewu and other neighboring towns as well as Togo where some listeners used to call from whenever I’m on Shine Fm spitting bars.
After the Rap Battle, Dj Stephen and Smooth King assured me to keep dropping songs and create a brand for myself. Seddy Kofi and I kept the faith and my brother Luther King joined us to form a 3 man team team. Then BeatHustlers was learning how to play beats and also mixing and mastering of songs so we started putting plans together because our Engineer Scorty Blakkk relocated to Ho to join TOSH 103.9 FM. We didn’t give up as I kept dropping contents to establish myself as an artist. February 2016, I linked up with my senior Brother JJ Gonami and got him featured on a song ‘Don’t Give Up’ aka Gorogoro wu. This song was the game changer that took me to a level of my carree that I can’t put a quantum on. Shout out to Dr . Gbekui for putting me on. Same year 2016, I met mustybeatz in Accra and we became friends as we both found ourselves in same classroom. His love for music production and rapping brought us more closer and the bonding became very strong. We do almost everything together as friends and business partners. He gave me very great Records including #VEX, #MafK #MyZone, #Stories amongst others.
Between September 2016 and March 2019 Musty Beatz and BeatHustlers became masters in their fields and Seddy Kofi has already earned himself some very good accolades as a young artist manager with a clear vision. Working together for the past 7 years, we have achieved a lot of milestones and had also made huge losses, but we always find our balance and keep pushing regardless. We have been nominated for awards both in and outside Volta Region. We’ve won some and lost some but YES, we’re a work in progress and not a success story. Guys, there are millions of opportunities around us and if we can look through them very carefully, we can make a difference in our lives and that of others around us. We met some very important people on our journey and we can’t forget their role in shaping our dreams. Elorm Beenie Samuel Amadotor, Djsmooth Wan Djralph Ralph DjCyril Gh DJ Karanja @NeneLamptey, @JahPhinga a, nd plenty and hers that I will save for my next write up. All I want to say is, that I’m very grateful for every Support given me so far and the love we keep receiving from our fans. God bless us all and I will make you guys feel super proud for investing in my craft. I’m very grateful for the love â¤ï¸ from in and outside my region. The agenda #ConqureTheWorld is on.
