President-Elect William Ruto’s victory has been confirmed by the country’s Supreme Court which dismissed key issues raised by the petition that sought to have it nullified.
The seven-judge bench led by Chief Justice Martha Koome, in a unanimous decision, dismissed one of the main claims: that the ICT system used had shortcomings.
It also ruled that Ruto garnered 50% plus one vote as declared by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The main petition was filed by Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga who accused the IEBC of manipulating the vote results in Ruto’s favour.
The Supreme Court has ruled that the technology used by the electoral commission in August 9, 2022, General Election met the standards of integrity, verifiability, security, and transparency to guarantee accurate and verifiable results, reports Capital FM.
